Uncoated Finish

Uncoated finish does exactly what it says on the tin.  We print onto the uncoated paper stock and then do nothing else to it.

However, the basic uncoated paper that we use can be matt, silk or gloss and so the type of base paper you select will affect the way you print comes out.  Matt uncoated gives a flat matt finish. Silk uncoated gives a smoother feel and a slight sheen to the print.  Gloss uncoated gives a more shiny base layer which is good for photos, but bad to write on with a ballpoint pen.

matt lamination

Matt Lamination

Matt lamination gives an elegant effect that offers great quality for products where image and first impressions mean everything, which is why it is a common choice for many.

Unlike gloss lamination, matt lamination can provide a softer look, as it can produce lower contrast on darker colours. Whilst forming a protective coating over the print, it does not provide the same level of protection as gloss lamination and can be prone to scratching.

Gloss Lamination

With gloss lamination the shine finish gives the artwork a much more striking look, the light reflects off the laminate, and gives colours, in particularly blacks, a richer depth.  Gloss lamination is more high profile, it adds a high gloss sheen often used on brochure covers, menus, magazine covers or presentation folders offering a high impact option.

Gloss lamination is also a durable choice as it repels dirt, scratches and fingerprints with ease. If the laminate does come in contact with dirt, it is easily wiped clean due to its glossy texture.

Paper Sizes

A Sizes for Posters or Paper

The simplest way to explain the aspect ratio of A sizes is that two of one size will equate to one of the next size up. For example, 2 x A4 sheets side by side (portrait) will equate to 1 x A3 page and 2 x A3 pages side by side (portrait) will equate to 1 x A2 size.

The larger the size of paper the smaller the number – A10 is the smallest and A0 size is the largest.

Funeral Order of Service, Celebration of Life – in A5 (147mm x 210mm) finished format

Putting together an funeral order of service (or as we like to call it a celebration of life) is quite often a very emotional experience.

The choice of a happy, memorable photograph is often the starting point.  And a little bit of humour. The front page Clement Freuds’ order of service said: Clement Freud. Born 24.04.24. Best Before 15.04.09. Designed to make people smile.

Font style and layout is also important – and will differ quite dramatically between a celebration of a younger person and an older one.  The A5 format is ideal, most only have 4 pages (i.e. a single sheet folded in half).  More elaborate celebrations have 8 pages (some of them blank) and rarely 12.

If you have your design all laid up then great, simply upload your file with your order when you have chosen your options and your celebration of life order of service will be on their way in a jiffy.
